British Airways' Fleet Plans - All Change

British Airways Fleet

It's been announced from British Airways that a major fleet overhaul will take place over the next few years - with the Boeing 747 being reduced from 52 active airframes to 37 before 2017.

In addition, a recent deal with Airbus to secure a number of new A350's has been put in place - consolidating Airbus' hold on the British Airways' long-haul fleet. This is in addition to a number of A380s being put into service shortly.

It's not all doom and gloom for Boeing however, as the first ever BA 787 rolls of the production line (above) and the 777 is due for an upgrade very good. The 777-X announced recently should bring much needed spark to BA's fleet and compete with the rebranded American for US long-haul supremacy.
