Singapore Airlines Order 30 Stretched Boeing 787-10X's

Progress on the stretched version of Boeing's 787 gained momentum today, as Singapore Airlines committed to purchasing at least 30 of the 787 - 10X.

With delivery taking place at the end of this decade, SIA are now in a strong position as they have already ordered 30 of Airbus's A350. It's likely that they will be one of the first airlines to operate a large number of both type simultaneously on competing routes and sectors. It's good news also for British engine maker Rolls-Royce, as the Airbus is currently only available with their Trent XWB engines.

'These aircraft orders are some of the biggest in Singapore Airline's history,' claims Chief Executive Goh Choon Phong. It comes just over a year since Singapore retired the Boeing 747 from it's fleet.
